CHICAGO — The next game on Manchester United's U.S. tour will be against the Chicago Fire. They'll also be trying to beat the heat.
With temperatures hovering near the 100-degree mark as the team arrived in Chicago on Thursday, United manager Alex Ferguson noted that it was like stepping into a furnace after coming from more temperate Seattle. Manchester United routed the Seattle Sounders 7-0 in a friendly Wednesday night.
Ferguson expects the weather to be a challenge for his players, and says he may adjust his substitution strategy during Saturday's game against the Fire at Soldier Field.
When Fire interim coach Frank Klopas joked that he was going to find a way to turn up the heat even more for Saturday's game, Ferguson joked that he'd probably just stay in the hotel.
