Virginia Richmond McDowell

HOOPER - Virginia Richmond McDowell, age 96, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2011 in Hooper, UT. She was born January 31, 1915 in Salt Lake City, UT to Charles Barzilla Richmond and Blanche Kimball. She attended the University of Utah where she met Gilbert Verne McDowell. They were married on July 2, 1936 and later sealed in The Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions in the Church. She and Gilbert served a full-time mission in the Florida Tampa Mission from 1978-79. They served as Ordinance Workers in The Salt Lake LDS temple for seven years. She was employed as a Medical Transcriber at the U of U Medical Center. Her husband preceded her in death as did three of her sons-in-law, James Adams, Warren Stacey and Richard Vellinga. Also her parents and four brothers, Lawrence Richmond, Harold Richmond, Grant Richmond and Kimball Richmond. She is survived by her children: Joyce Adams, Margaret (Jerry) Davis, Gill (Arlyse) McDowell, Annette Stacey, Elaine Vellinga, Charles (Debra) McDowell and Martha (Bob) Sandone. Also surviving are her sisters, Phyllis Duncan and Mary Nielsen. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hooper First Ward Chapel, 5601 S. 6100 W., Hooper, UT. Friends and family may call at the Hooper First Ward Relief Society room Friday, July 22, 2011 between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, July 23, 2011 between 9:45 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. preceeding the funeral services.
