Margaret Ewing "Valiant Mom"
Margaret Rigby Ewing, 95, passed away July 19, 2011 in Salt Lake. Born February 1, 1916, in Afton, Wyoming, to Effie Morgan and James E. Rigby. Married Deane J. Ewing in Holladay, Utah; Marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They owned and operated Paramount Press and were avid campers, hunters and fishermen. Margaret was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served valiantly in the Primary, Young Women and Relief Society organizations. She loved to sing and was a member of the Murray 8th Ward Double-trio and Singing Mothers. She especially loved Barbershop music and sang with the Wasatch Suburbanettes, and the Sego Lily and Salt Lake Sweet Adelines. Together, they have five children: Jackie (Fenton) Billings; Dennis (Carma) Ewing; Sidney (Cathy) Ewing; Mardeen (Terry) Stevens; Kaelyn (Ken) Anfinsen; 55 grandchildren and many great and great-great-grandkids. She is preceded in death by her husband and son, Sid. The family expresses their appreciation to the staff at Wentworth Assisted Living for their kind and gentle care. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 22, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at the Murray 8th Ward, 160 East 4600 South. Friends may call Thursday, July 21, 2011, at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State Street, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 12 to 12:45 p.m. at the church prior to services. Interment: Larkin Sunset Gardens.
