Recently I watched a local TV reporter gleefully advise that Michelle Obama will soon visit Park City to attend a re-election fundraiser for her husband. Although the president recently chose to demonize persons who utilize corporate jets, his wife will no doubt arrive in Utah aboard the largest "corporate jet" in the world.

And there probably will be additional support aircraft, ground transport vehicles, a security detail, numerous aides, staffers, media supporters, etc. The overall cost of the visit could run into hundreds of thousands of dollars, and I will be greatly surprised if Obama picks up the tab.

I live on fixed income and hardly qualify as rich, but I am among that half of American households who are required to pay income taxes every year and who also seem accused lately of not ponying up a fair share. Consequently, it is quite vexing to see my tax money is being diverted to re-election efforts for a man whose accomplishments mostly comprise a train wreck of failed policies. America needs leadership that is responsive to the people.
