JACKSON, Miss. — A 22-year-old Orem man has died from his injuries after he was run over in a Jackson, Miss., parking lot during an altercation early Friday morning.
Police responded to a hit-and-run accident at the parking of a Target store around 3 a.m. When they arrived, they found Scotty Ford had been run over.
Police say Ford and Jacob England, 20, had been fighting. Apparently, the two had gotten into a verbal confrontation over a woman at a nightclub earlier in the night. Both left the club and then somehow ended up in the parking lot.
Words were exchanged and then Ford and his friends headed back to their vehicle. That’s when England ran over Ford, according to Jackson police spokeswoman Colendula Green.
Ford was rushed to the hospital with injuries to his mid-section. The Deseret News has learned from friends and family members that Ford has since passed away. England fled the scene but later turned himself in.
England was booked into jail on investigation of aggravated assault and will be in court on Monday.
