SALINA, Sevier County — A 20-year-old Colorado woman was killed Friday following a crash on I-70.

The two-car accident occurred on I-70 westbound near around 6 p.m. when the woman tried to pass another vehicle, Utah Highway Patrol trooper Dan Altenes said. She was traveling in the left emergency lane when she overcorrected and struck a vehicle in the right lane.

The impact caused both vehicles off of the roadway, where they collided with "several large rocks," Altenes said. The Colorado woman died at the scene.

The two individuals in the second vehicle — who are residents of Monticello, Utah — suffered only minor injuries.

Everyone involved in the crash was wearing a seatbelt at the time.

Police are not releasing the name of the victim pending family notification.
