KAYSVILLE — The top high school marching bands from Utah and Idaho will gather at Davis High School on Oct. 16 to compete in the Davis Cup Invitational.

Now in its 39th year, the Davis Cup Invitational is the oldest marching band competition in the state. Thirty-three bands will perform beginning at 12:45 p.m. and lasting until Davis High's performance at 9:45 p.m.

Bands will be evaluated by a six-judge panel, scoring groups based on music, visual, percussion and color guard. Admission for the competition is $5 for individuals or $20 for a family of six.

Profits from the competition will benefit the Davis High marching band, which will represent Utah in the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, Calif., on Jan. 1.
