SALT LAKE CITY — Residents in the Salt Lake Valley can expect rain this weekend, and those taking to the mountains may want to wear snow boots.
The National Weather Service says there's a 70 percent chance of rain through the day and evening Friday on the Wasatch Front, while giving some higher regions in the state a 90 percent chance of snow through the weekend.
KSL meteorologist Kevin Eubank said Thursday night that the storm is moving in from southern Utah and will drop snow in areas above 8,000 feet as it crosses the state.
"It's going to be a juicy storm," Eubank said. "When these come out of the south, they've got a lot of Pacific moisture."
Park City Mountain Resort's snowfall forecast indicates the slopes could get 2 inches or more of snow Friday and Saturday. The resort's long-range forecast predicts low pressure systems and cooling temperatures in the next two weeks could bring a few more snowflakes.
