John Brice Johnson1928 - 2012After having fought a valiant fight with Parkinson's disease, John Brice Johnson passed away in Salt Lake City on October 9, 2012 at age 84.John was born on August 23, 1928 to John and Mabel Johnson in Silver City, Utah. He was Brice to family members, but many of his closest friends just called him Johnny. Upon completing High School, John enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Japan where he served in cleanup efforts after WWII. John returned to the States where he married his first wife, Norma Elaine Gunnerson. John and Norma had four children together, Larry, Deborah, Scott and Todd. John began his career with Friden as a flexowriter technician. His expertise with the Flexowriter took him all over the western United States. The entrepreneurial spirit in John eventually lead him back to Utah where he began his own business in Salt lake City in 1962. He and his son eventually became partners in the business, which is still in operation. John never really retired as he continued working in the office up until the time of his death. John married his current wife Susan Jeppson in 1989 , and they have enjoyed many wonderful years traveling and golfing together. During his younger years, John loved to go hunting, fishing, snow and water skiing. His real love, though, was golf which he continued to do until just a few weeks prior to his passing. John was a member of the LDS church and served faithfully in many different callings. He loved his priesthood leaders and the fellowship of his priesthood brethren. We will miss our husband, father, and grandfather who has supported us in so many ways. Giving gifts was Dad's way of saying that he loved us and he has given us many gifts and an honorable heritage. Our lives are truly changed without him and golfing in Mesquite will never be the same without him.John is survived by his wife Susan, his sister, Darleen Thompson, his brother, Hal Johnson, his two sons, Scott (Cathy) and Todd (Denise) Johnson, his daughter Deborah Johnson, his nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his mother, Mabel, and his father, John, his first wife, Norma Gunnerson, His son, Larry Johnson, and his two sisters Carol and Renee.A Viewing will be held on Saturday, October 13th at 9:00-9:45am prior to the funeral service at the LDS Chapel on 3676 W. 4700 S., Taylorsville, UT.
