CORAL GABLES, Fla. — Miami coach Al Golden says quarterback Stephen Morris has a sprained left ankle, which may keep him out of Saturday's game against No. 12 Florida State.
Golden says X-rays were negative, and that no determination on Morris' status for the week has been made.
Morris was hurt in the fourth quarter of Miami's 18-14 loss this weekend to North Carolina. He took an awkward step and appeared to twist his ankle inward. He was eventually helped to the sideline, had an icepack strapped to the ankle, and soon left the field in a walking boot for further evaluation.
If Morris cannot play, Ryan Williams will start against the Seminoles.
Morris has completed 154 of 268 passes for 1,991 yards this season, with nine touchdowns and six interceptions.
