BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Urban Meyer knows this is not championship football.
After watching Ohio State (7-0, 3-0 Big Ten) build an 18-point lead with 6½ minutes left Saturday night, the coach, his players and the school's legions of fans cringed as they watched Indiana nearly wipe it all out in the final two minutes.
It's a familiar theme for the Buckeyes this season.
They struggled to hold off California, barely squeaked out a win at Michigan State and needed every point they could muster to hang on for a 52-49 victory at Indiana.
What's wrong?
That depends on who you're asking.
Players acknowledged they may have underestimated Indiana's offense or that the defense lost focus late in the game — corrections Meyer will certainly make before Purdue comes to town.
