Wayne Miller Peck1937 ~ 2012Wayne Miller Peck returned to his Father in Heaven after a long and courageous battle with COPD. He died as he wished, in peace, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.Born December 21, 1937 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Wayne Solomon Peck and Elaine Miller Peck. He married the love of his life, Linda Quinn Peck, January 8, 1955. This marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Survived by his wife and eight children, Wayne Kevin Peck, Leslie M. (James) Soderbeg, Daniel B. Peck, Leisa C. (Christopher K.) Root, Laney (Brad) Wilks, Wendy (Brad) Marz, Benjamen C. (Tiffany) Peck, Nathan A. (Maegan) Peck, 35 grandchildren, 14 great-children, and his brother, Oran John Peck.Wayne was a happy, courageous man, with a great love for his Heavenly Father and an appreciation for his blessings. As an entrepreneur, Wayne had a brilliant, visionary mind. All were better for having their lives touched by Wayne's vibrant and fun filled perspectives. He left you feeling that you were the best version of yourself, as he would share generously of the good he saw in you, leaving you to feel that there was nothing you couldn't accomplish.Wayne was defined by his attitude and resilience. There were no obstacles, only opportunities. He had a sense of humor so delightfully fun, that you would recall with fondness that first moment you met him and then would reminisce that memory with a smile.Wayne lived out loud, in all but his generosity. We had to learn of his bountiful charity through others, as he would not speak of it himself. His charitable tender heart knew no boundaries. He loved cars, texting, Velcro, boats, Tab, St. George, Lake Powell and making family memories. Wayne was co-owner of Peck and Shaw Toyota, Buick, GMC and Rolls Royce. He also co-owned Truck and Recreation Vehicle dealerships throughout the Salt Lake Valley. With a lifetime in the automotive industry, it was no surprise that his favorite pass time was to take a drive. Frequently, he would invite his children for a drive, only to discover they had become a hostage to his creative parenting strategy. He then had you as a captive audiencesometimes for hours on endbut it was quality time that will always be cherished. He had a language all his own, allowing just one of his words to express a volume of thought. We fondly refer to these as "Wayneisms."Dad has given us a legacy of courage, as we watched him live joyfully even in his season of deteriorating health. We can do no less than what we witnessed in him. Thank you for continually teaching us even from your bedside. Our thanks and appreciation goes to IHC Hospice, and a special thank you to Cheryl, Ana, Linsey and Bill. You helped make a frightening event a blessed and peaceful one.
