Richard Stanley Carlson1937 ~ 2012Our wonderful husband, father and grandfather, Richard Stanley Carlson, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren after a short battle with lung cancer. Mom and dad were true soul mates. Dad called mom his "bride" and mom called dad "husband". Dad was a proud Draper boy. He received his Bachelor's degree from Westminster College. He served in the Utah National Guard from 1957 to 1960 prior to entering the United States Army. Dad trained at West Point Academy as an expert sharp-shooter and at Fort Devens in Boston MA to prepare for maneuvers in Alaska. Honorably discharged in 1963. Worked for Consolidated Freight Lines and retired from the Salt Lake County Sheriffs Office after 36 years of service.Dad is survived by his sweetheart of 48 years, Doreen Dipo Carlson, mother-in-law, Dora Lindsay Dipo, children: Dixie Walton, Sandie (Doug) Urdahl, Cristine Brimley, Connie Johnson, Corey (Anita Chavez Carlson), and Collin (Julie Zmyslo Carlson); grandchildren: Amy, Nicole, Jessica, Ashley, Lewis, Shardai, Brittany, Cayden, Gavin, Zachary, Whitney, Kylie, Connor, Cassidy and Caitlyn; great grandchildren: Ryan, Alyssa, Fox and Kallie.
