Fred Coldwell Goldthorpe1925 ~ 2012Fred Coldwell Goldthorpe, passed away at home surrounded by his family in the early hours of Saturday, October 13, 2012. Born in Chicago to Harold Clifford Goldthorpe and Wanda Pauline Orlofske. Fred had a great youth in Salt Lake, living on Gilmer Drive. He attended East High and the University of Utah. He enlisted in the US Army Air Corps and served for two years during World War II. He served an LDS Mission to Czechoslovakia and England from 1947 1949. In 1990 he and his wife Ann returned and served a second mission. He taught Seminary and was employed as the Associate Director of the University of Utah LDS Institute of Religion. Fred was married to Ann Farley Goldthorpe on March 31, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple. He is preceded in death by his father, mother and son, Brent.Fred is survived by his wife, Ann Farley Goldthorpe, his children Kent (Marina), Pauline Leeman (Omar), Bruce (Robin), Clifford (Tammy) and Marianne (Jill Jones), his sister Elizabeth Nance and his brothers Charles and Harold Goldthorpe. He and Ann have 20 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. Services will be held on Thursday, October 18th at 11:00 a.m. in the Olympus 8th Ward, 2675 E 4430 South, Holladay, UT. Visitation with the family will be one hour before the services. In lieu of flowers, Ann has requested that contributions be made to either the General Missionary or Humanitarian Aid funds of the LDS Church.Funeral Directors: Utah Valley Mortuary.
