Another week, another NFL star out for the season with an injury.
Ray Lewis, the 13-time All-Pro anchor of the Ravens' rugged defense, tore the triceps muscle in his right arm during Baltimore's 31-29 win over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
The 37-year-old Lewis wasn't the only Raven injured during the game. Fourth-year cornerback Ladarius Webb is gone for the year with a torn knee ligament, and defensive lineman Haloti Ngata injured a knee, but could return next week.
"I'm disappointed for those guys," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. "It doesn't matter how I or someone else feels about it. It's their thing. These are guys that put so much effort, heart and soul into what they do."
Lewis, who may have played his last game, is just the latest big name to take a big fall.
Three weeks ago, Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis was lost for the season with a torn ACL in his left knee.
Last week, Texans linebacker and team leader Brian Cushing was lost for the season with a torn left knee ligament during a win over the Jets.
Even before the season, the Ravens defense lost another standout in AP Defensive Player of the Year Terrell Suggs, who is recovering from a torn right Achilles tendon.
In other injury updates Monday:
— Arizona quarterback Kevin Kolb has injured ribs from the pounding he took in the 19-16 overtime loss to Buffalo, and his status for Sunday's game against Minnesota is uncertain. Kolb was injured while being sacked for the fifth time.
Coach Ken Whisenhunt said X-rays showed no broken bones, but an MRI was being done "to make sure there's not something that we're missing," Whisenhunt said. "He was pretty sore this morning, which you would expect, but he was moving around."
—Tests on Cleveland running back Trent Richardson revealed he has a right rib cartilage injury. Coach Pat Shurmur said Richardson "is fine" and is listed day to day. The rookie was injured early in the Browns' win over Cincinnati and was replaced in the third quarter after rushing for 37 yards on 14 carries.
—Houston defensive end Tim Jamison tore his right Achilles during the loss to Green Bay and will miss the rest of the season, coach Gary Kubiak said. The 6-foot-3, 285-pounder had nine tackles, including a sack, and a deflected pass as J.J. Watt's backup.
—Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy said starting inside linebacker D.J. Smith will miss the rest of the season after injuring his right knee against the Texans.
