TAYLORSVILLE — Students will have an opportunity to exhibit their talents in a Veterans Day poster and essay contest to honor those who have served the country. The theme is "America's Vietnam Vets: Our Heroes."

The contest is open to all Taylorsville students in first through eighth grades. Entries must be received at City Hall by Oct. 26 at 5 p.m..

First-place poster winners in first through fourth grades will be recognized at the Veterans Day program and receive an award from Mayor Russ Wall. All posters will be displayed at City Hall.

First-place essay winners in fifth through eighth grades will be asked to read their entries at the program and also will receive an award from the mayor. The program will be Nov. 11 at 12:15 p.m. at City Hall.
