Jay Milton Sagers1926 ~ 2012Our Dad, a generous father, tender grandfather and a loving and kind great grandfather, passed away October 12, 2012. Jay Milton Sagers was born November 1,1926 on his beloved homestead in St. John, Utah, to Milton and Doris Bracken Sagers. He loved his farm and had names for all of his animals. Sometimes, not so nice names. He belonged to the land and the land belonged to him. He had a great respect for that sacred ground in Rush Valley. He attended Tooele High School and enlisted in the US Navy on October 27, 1944, serving on the USS Houston during World War II. He married Patricia Koyen in a much- celebrated wedding in March of 1951. Their courtship was exciting, as he impressed her with his flying skills in his small airplane. Together, they had eight children, which he loved and adored. Christine (Jerry) Nash, Matthew (Janice), Valerie (Kim) Phillips, Nathan (Truth Ann), Hallie Keller, and Travis Sagers. Later, he and Patricia divorced and he remained a bachelor, devoting his time to his farm and honing his talents as an expert expert shooter and a crack shot with the Gun Club. He really enjoyed his buddies and the Thursday night steak fries! He boasts of 18 grandchildren, Chase (Luz) Nash, Chism(Carrie) Nash, Chelsea Nash, Kyle Sagers, Garrison (Teresa) Sagers, Quentin Sagers, Wyatt (Trisha) Sagers, Jess (Stephanie) Phillips, Eric Phillips, Lonn Phillips (Chelsea) , Amy Phillips, Dusty (Mary Ann) Sagers, Brittany and Austin Keller. Dad so enjoyed his great grandchildren, Olivia, Hunter, Owen, baby Cooper, Brooklyn, Lila, Tristan, Griffin, Anthony, Jaden, Jaclynn, Saige and Aspyn. He was preceded in death by His parents, two daughters in infancy, Laurel Ann and MelLeni Faye, two sisters, Jessie Johnson, Cleone Dillon and two brothers, Robert and Allen Sagers. His sister, June Sharp and two loving brothers-in-law, Orson Johnson and Gary Ahlstrom also survive him. Our Dad was a man of great integrity, of which he left a great legacy, the land he so loved, and his ability to work with hard and gentle hands. He had a sharp wit and a great mind. We love him so.
