SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly says he wants to monitor Everett Golson's recovery from a concussion for another 48 hours before deciding who will start at quarterback against Brigham Young on Saturday.
Golson was cleared to practice Wednesday after sustaining a helmet-to-helmet hit against Stanford. Kelly says Golson is getting better, but he wants to see how he does at practice Friday and before the game Saturday. He says either Tommy Rees or Andrew Hendrix could start in Golson's place.
Golson has struggled at times for the fifth-ranked Irish (6-0), but Kelly says he is making progress. Kelly says Golson had his best four plays against Stanford just before he was hurt. Tommy Rees has finished the game at quarterback in three of Notre Dame's victories.
