W. Nicholas Lunt1933 ~ 2012ST. GEORGE, UTNick Lunt, 79, passed away on October 15, 2012 after his courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was born on June 9, 1933 in Cedar City, UT to Willard H. (Bill) and Inez Knell Lunt. He attended Cedar City High School where he was an All State Basketball and Football player. He then attended BAC (SUU) where he played on the Basketball team and later graduated from Utah State University with a degree in Civil Engineering.Nick married Lila Rae Fullerton, his high school sweetheart in Cedar City on September 10, 1954 which was later solemnized in the Ogden Temple. He proudly served in the United States Air Force for three years in Mississippi and Massachusetts. He returned to Utah where they later settled in Bountiful and worked for the Bureau of Reclamation where he helped engineer and design the Weber Water Irrigation System for Weber and Davis County. Later he worked for Portland Cement Association followed by 32 years at Ideal (Holnam) Cement Company. After retirement they moved to St. George, UT.His personal joys included golf, tennis and attending sporting events with his family. He truly enjoyed sitting on his beloved Cedar Mountain enjoying his cabin while reading a book. He is survived by his wife and three children, Terri (Kirk) Hodgkinson, Layton, UT., Lori (Michael) Hatch, Draper, UT., Bradley (Beth) Lunt, Bountiful, UT. He is also survived by his brother Dr. Steve Lunt, Cedar City, UT., sister Judith Lee Lunt, New Mexico, and six grandchildren.The family would like to extend their special thanks to Nick's care givers which included his wife Lila and the Alliance Hospice team, Ethan, Gary, Kayla, Marci, Krystalynn, Tanya, and Laurie. Also a special thanks to neighbor Jeff Bingham.The road Nick traveled was long and difficult but filled with love.Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah.
