TAYLORSVILLE — Police have identified the 39-year-old woman who was killed Thursday evening while trying to cross a street.
Robin Cruz, of Taylorsville, died soon after being struck around 10 p.m. near the intersection of 2100 West and 5400 South, Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal reported Friday. Police believe the woman was trying to cross from the south side of 5400 South to the north side when she was hit by an eastbound Chevrolet Blazer.
"She had just stepped off the curb and was struck," Hoyal said. "There's no crosswalk, it was dark, it's kind of a bad spot for that kind of deal."
The woman was transported to Intermountain Medical Center in extremely critical condition and died about 40 minutes after the accident.
The 21-year-old driver of the Blazer and his passenger were unharmed and neither alcohol, drugs or speed appear to have been a factor in the incident. It currently remains under investigation.
