Robert Ray Clark1926 ~ 2012Robert Ray Clark, age 86, our dear husband, father and grandfather passed away October 17, 2012. He was born May 17, 1926 to Edward Clark and Mae Pennington in Hamilton, Ohio. He was married to Martha McCarroll and later Joyce Sheffield. He was a member of the LDS Church and served faithfully in many different callings.Robert served in the U.S. Army at the end of WWII and was stationed in Germany. Bob was a musician and an artist. His music career started in Ohio and after a long tenure as a university professor at Marshall University in Huntington, WV, he moved to Wilmington, NC in 1989 to actively pursue a fulltime career as an artist. There he established a solid reputation as a painter of historic scenes and as a portrait painter. His excellence as an artist had been recognized through exhibits, awards and art associations. Since Bob's first juried show in 1983 he won over sixty awards, including two Best of Shows and six First Places in international, national as well as in regional and local shows. In 2005, he and wife, Joyce moved to Heber City, Utah.Bob's formal art studies included classes and workshops throughout the United States. In additional to his artistic training, he had degrees from the Universities of Miami, Ohio State and Michigan, where he received a Ph.D. in music.He is survived by his wife, Joyce; two daughters: Connie (Mike) Stenger, Lynn (Eddy) Tucker; two stepsons: DeLoy (Lek) Thayn, Scott (Kim) Thayn; three grandchildren: Mary (Brent) Durbin, William (Waka) Taylor, Christopher Tucker; six step-grandchildren: Jacob, McKenna, Mariah, Sidney, Ty and Dayna; and three great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be held Monday October 22, 2012 11:00 AM in the Cobblestone LDS Ward, 1661 East 980 South, Heber City, Utah. Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday from 6:00 8:00PM at Olpin-Hoopes Funeral Home, 288 North Main Street, Heber City, and on Monday from 9:30 10:30 AM prior to the services at the LDS Church.
