Obituary: HAWKES, STEVE

Steve Hawkes1936 ~ 2012Harold Stephen Hawkes age 76, died October 13th 2012 after a long battle with many health problems. He was born March 1, 1936 in Preston, Idaho to Harold Hawkes and Bessie Rasmussen Hawkes.He served a full time LDS mission to Mexico. He served in both the Army and the Air Force and was honorably discharged. He married Dorothy Trottier on August 20, 1959 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they had three children. He was an active member of the LDS church, where he served in various callings that he enjoyed. He worked in the fire protection industry for many years and later became a building engineer for the LDS church until retiring in 1999. His main love in life was his family. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved his annual elk hunting trips with friends and was the biggest Ute fan ever.He is survived by his wife Dorothy, son Chip (Stephanie) Hawkes, daughters Suzi (Jeff) Moline, and Stacy Rees; 11 grandchildren and five great grandsons. He is also survived by two sisters, Anne Pomeroy (Pat) of Mesa, AZ. and Janet Pritchard (Frank) of Killeen, TX. As well as many nieces and nephews who lovingly called him "Uncle Bubba".He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister and three nephews.Viewing will be held Sunday October 21, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at Holladay Cottonwood Mortuary 4670 South Highland Drive in Holladay. Services will be held Monday, October 22, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Greenfield LDS Chapel, 6634 S. Greenfield Way (1920 E). A viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the SLC Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Care Source Hospice and Dr. Scott Hacking for their kind and loving care provided to our dad.
