Maudie Isabelle Graham Jones1923 - 2012Maudie Isabelle Graham Jones was born April 25, 1923, and died October 14, 2012 at age 89. Her parents, Peter Matthew Graham and Sarah Louise Jones, instilled the values of education during her early years in Illinois. She married Robert Calvin Jones in Peoria, Illinois, and they moved to California in the 1950's, Seattle for the 1960's, and Red Bank, New Jersey until her move to Salt Lake City in 1991. She graduated from the University of California and began her distinguished career in elementary education. Her life experiences created a network of friendships across the United States. While a resident of Salt Lake City, she volunteered for the Assistance League, KUED, and the Fine Art Museum at the University of Utah. She was an avid reader, a devoted friend, an active member of her investment group, a dedicated Nordstrom shopper, and a caregiver to her aging parents and husband until they passed away. She is survived by her son, Robert B. Jones, his wife, Debbie Jones, and her two granddaughters, Erin Louise Jones and Adrienne Elizabeth Jones. Although she was tiny and frail, she never lost her optimistic spirit. She won the hearts of the staff at Emeritus Assisted Living and Hospice whose caring efforts were appreciated. Friends of the family are invited to attend a memorial service on Wednesday, October 24, at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South, at 7:00 p.m. If Ben Franklin's words are true, "Wine is constant proof that God loves us and loves to see us happy;" then in lieu of flowers or donations, raise your glass to the extraordinary life of Maudie Jones.
