Roger Marden1926 ~ 2012Roger Marden, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and son passed away Saturday evening, Oct. 13, surrounded by his family after a cardiac arrest at his home days prior. Roger was born Oct. 14, 1926 to Victor and Myrtle Marden in Biddeford, Maine. He met his high school sweetheart of 60 years, Roberta, and they married in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. After joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1959, Roger and Roberta moved their family west in 1974 where they remained. His example of hard work was an important value throughout his entire life. Roger's career as a poultry farmer supported his family and made witness to others his dedication to hard work. His attitude with work was selfless as Roger's intentions were always to help others.Roger started every new day with a song and a smile, always taking advantage of the days God had given him. His words were everlastingly positive. His genuine kindness was felt by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His children and grandchildren will remember his loving words to "remember you're a Marden" before walking out the door each day. Roger is survived by his wife, Roberta, and nine children: David, Rick, Elaine, Christopher, Suzanne, Joyce, Nancy, Sharyn-Ann and Jared.Because Roger donated his body to the University of Utah there was a memorial service held last Sunday in lieu of a funeral.
