SALT LAKE CITY — United Way of Salt Lake next week will host a summit on women's education issues.

The Women and Education Summit: Investing in our Future, will take place Oct. 30 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Little America Hotel in Salt Lake City. The conference will examine disparities between Utah women and men in post-secondary education and the effect on families and the workforce.

The daylong program will feature breakout session on topics including: A Male Perspective, Building Self-Worth, Preparation and Readiness, a student panel and strategy sessions for communities, families, the workplace and classroom.

Speakers include Utah Valley University President Matt Holland; Jose Enriquez, founder and executive director of Latinos in Action; Martin Bates, superintendent of the Granite School District; Melissa Miller Kincart, assistant commissioner for Utah System of Higher Education; Susan R. Madsen, founder of the Utah Women and Education Project and professor of leadership and ethics at Utah Valley University; and Cecelia H. Foxley, former commissioner of Higher Education and higher education consultant.
