Avard Larkin Gifford1926 ~ 2012Avard Larkin Gifford, age 86, passed away October 21, 2012. He was born April 1, 1926 in Springdale, Washington County, Utah, the seventh of ten children, to Samuel Kendall and Althera Gifford who all preceded him in death.He enjoyed growing up in Springdale. Avard was drafted into the US Army at the age of 18 and served in the Philippine Islands. Following his military service he served two years as a missionary for the LDS Church in the California Mission. He married Helen Bodine and they had three children, Dianne, Peggy Anne and Glenn Avard. This marriage ended in divorce. Avard then married Ruth Smith. He served in many capacities in the Church. Avard is survived by his wife, Ruth, children, their spouses, nine grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family members.Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Lehi East Stake Center, 1200 East 900 North. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment, Lehi City Cemetery.
