Frank "Buck" SasakiLoving Husband & FatherFrank "Buck" Sasaki, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at age 90. He was born January 21, 1922 to Koji and Shio Ando Sasaki in Rexburg, Idaho. He later moved from Rexburg, in August of 1947 to Salt Lake City where he met his sweetheart of 64 years Esther Okamura and never went back. Buck and Esther were married on December 1, 1947 and they spent their first year of marriage at the old Alta bunkhouse. Buck was an avid sportman loving to hunt, fish, bowl, ski, garden, play cards, and golf. Most of all he loved to be with his family and at the cabin near Afton, Wyoming. He served his country in the Army from October 6, 1944 and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant on May 1, 1951. He was assigned to the 390th MP's in Schwabach, Germany and later served in Belgium and France.He worked at Alta Ski Lifts over 45 years and retired as the Superintendent of Lifts. When Buck began working at Alta there were two lifts, the old Collins and the Peruvian Lift which operated on weekends and holidays.Buck was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. After he retired he enjoyed attending daily Mass and Rosary.He is survived by wife Esther, children Susan Akagi (Mark), Sherrie Endo (Edward), Steven Sasaki (Shirley),Scott Sasaki (Eleanor)and Sterling Sasaki, 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.A viewing will be held Friday, October 5th, at 6:00 PM at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, UT, followed with the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, 2:00 PM at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 3560 W 3650 S, West Valley City UT. Interment directly following at the Redwood Memorial Park 6500 S. Redwood Rd. West Jordan, UT.
