Sherman L. Hougland1966 ~ 2012On November 4, 2012, the world lost a one-of-a-kind man and heaven gained an angel. Our beloved father, son, brother and friend, Sherman Lee Hougland, was born January 31, 1966 in Monterey, California. He later moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where he lived most of his life. Sherman traveled all over the world, beginning with his 6-year service in the Navy. Soon after, he started his career as a sound engineer, working for NBC, ABC and National Geographic. He also had plans to continue his travels on his dream boat. Sherman had a passion for photography, fishing, riding motorcycles, and learning about all people and their cultures. He is remembered for his kind and generous nature. He loved to share things with others, from endless laughter to grand steak and lobster dinners. His pride and joy were his two sons Ronnie (Midvale, Utah) and Michael Austyn (Pulaski, Tennessee). Sherman is survived by his father, Michael N. Hougland (Lona); mother, Bunny Quinn (Skipp); and brothers Benson Hougland (Sheila), Vincent Crivello (Linda), Travis Hougland and Cy Quinn (Tara). A gathering will be held on Monday, November 12th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street in Murray, Utah. Graveside services will be held at the Fort Douglas Cemetery,Chiapeta Way, in Salt Lake City, Utah on Tuesday, November 13th at 11:00 a.m. On line condolences may be shared with the family at www.jenkins-soffe.com.
