ALPINE — Donald "Kip" Botkin has retired as the Lone Peak police chief.

Botkin served 16 years as the chief in the Lone Peak Public Safety District, which covers Alpine and Highland.

Under his leadership, Lone Peak developed a motorcycle enforcement program. Botkin also was instrumental in the K-9 program and inclusion in the Utah County Metro SWAT team, according to a news release.
