Obituary: CASPER, WILLARD

Willard A. (Bill) Casper1926 2012Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Willard A. Casper, passed away on November 11, 2012 after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's disease. He was born the sixth of eight children on July 21, 1926 in Menan, Idaho to William Arthur and Lenah Ethel Casper. He went to school in Dillon, Montana graduating from Beaverhead High School before joining the US Army Air Corps during WWII. He served in the European theatre until his discharge in 1946. After WWII he graduated from Los Angeles College of Mortuary Science. He moved to Blackfoot, Idaho to work where he met the love of his life, Donna May Madsen. They were married on July 23, 1950, solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple. Bill spent over 50 years in the service of those in need as a funeral director and was awarded a lifetime achievement award by the Utah Funeral Directors Association. He was active in the LDS church and with Donna served for over 2 years on an extended Humanitarian mission until Parkinson's prevented further efforts. Bill is survived by his wife Donna, his children Valerie Gibson (William) of Highland, Utah, John Casper (Cindy) of Tucson, Arizona, William Casper (deceased), eight grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, sister Ida Devereaux and brother Jay Casper. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters (Ruby, Vie, Emma, and Nina) and brother Dee. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the excellent care given by the staff of Caregivers Support Network, Hospice, and Draper Rehabilitation and Care Center. We would like to extend a special thanks to our special neighbor Rose May, and home teachers Keith and Loyce Powell. Funeral services will be held at the Midvale Seventh Ward Chapel on 8350 S. Jackson St. (260 W.), Midvale, Utah on Friday, November 16, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. prior to the service.
