Charles Mark HamiltonMar. 14, 1942 ~ Nov. 13, 2012Charles Mark Hamilton passed away due to a brief illness on November 13, 2012 surrounded by his family. He was a loving and kind son, brother, husband, father and grandfather who leaves a rich legacy and wonderful example to follow. Mark lived a full life, but his body was preventing him from continuing to live the experience-rich life he loved so much. He was born to Everett Mark and Blenda White Hamilton on March 14, 1942, in Salt Lake City. He married his eternal companion, Kaye Wright, on June 2, 1965 in the Salt Lake Temple. After Mark earned a B.A. from Brigham Young University, he taught seminary full-time in Bountiful, Utah. His desire to teach, coupled with an inquisitive mind, led him to a M.A. from the University of Utah and a Ph.D. from Ohio State University. He was a professor of Art and Architectural History at Brigham Young University, the University of Utah, and a visiting professor at the United States Air Force Academy. A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as a bishop, high councilor, high priest group leader and elders quorum president; and also shared his gift for teaching as a gospel doctrine teacher, and loved to home teach. He served a full-time LDS mission to New Zealand, and after retirement, served another mission to the NYC Manhattan Temple with his wife, Kaye. At the time of his passing, he was fulfilling a service mission in the Temple Department in Salt Lake. Although he achieved much, his greatest satisfaction came from the Gospel of Jesus Christ and his family.Eleven years ago, he was blessed with a heart transplant. From this gift, Mark was able to see seven more grandchildren born. They all adored their "Papa" and they were one of his true joys in life.He will be dearly missed and remain in our daily thoughts, but it is with gratitude for the Atonement of Jesus Christ that we know we will see him again. We remain eternally grateful for all of his lasting wisdom and the time we were blessed to be with him here on earth. We love and miss you Mark, Dad and Papa.He is preceded in death by his parents and survived by his wife, Kaye Wright Hamilton; children Dedelyn, Douglas Mark (Miquel), Mindikaye (Richard) Novasio, Charles Jeffrey (Jeanne) and Holliann (Reggie) Gardner; grandchildren, McKenzie, Mark, Madison and Jacob Hamilton; Alexa Novasio; Sydney and Payton Hamilton; and Jaxon, Krew, Talan and Jaeger Gardner; and his sister, Jannet (Robert) Ward.Services will be held Saturday, November 17, 2012 at the Grandview 5th Ward, 1555 N. 1350 W., Provo, Utah. The viewing will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., and the funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
