Rhea Shepard1920 ~ 2012A gracious lady left us today, November 24, 2012. Rhea Helen Jordan was born to Elisha Edwin Jordan and Bertha Josephine Morris on March 13, 1920. She was born at home "at the Murray Depot", fifth in a family of six. Her early years were spent in Murray, where she graduated High School in 1937. After meeting James Shepard at Tyler's Café in Murray, they married on October 31, 1941 at her sister's home. It was wartime and the significance of the day only came to mind when they had children who wanted to go trick or treating. With Shep, she traveled Europe and most of the United States. Her talented hands made dresses and costumes for three young girls, painted beautiful pictures, and wrote wonderful stories. A dedicated Girl Scout leader, she taught her troop how to sew, act in plays and how to camp using "just the basics". She was a woman ahead of her time. She continued in leadership positions through the Scouts, and supported her women's circle at her church. She loved doing things for her family and was always happiest when they were all gathered in her home. She created a beautiful, loving home, filled with wonderful memories for all who lived there. Survived by her husband, James "Shep" Shepard; daughters, Laurel Anne Shepard, Shelley Kay (Gregg) Pereboom, Sandra Lee (Kirk) Miller; sons, Stephen and Mark.
