Betty Christensen Sampson 1940 ~ 2012Our loving mother and grandmother, Betty Christensen Sampson left this life on Monday, November 26, 2012 to attend a great family reunion on the other side. She bravely faced the hardship of colon cancer for the last few years. She was proud to claim Preston, Idaho as her birthplace (November 8, 1940) and childhood home. Although she was the only child of Clifford J. and Virginia Furness Christensen, she is deeply loved by a large extended family. She graduated from Preston High School and Utah State University. She enjoyed a long career as a Medical Technologist in blood banking. She married Richard Dewey Sampson on July 16, 1971 in the LDS Logan Temple. Together, they raised their two daughters: Jennifer Going (Dan) and Nancy Lou Going (Glade). They made their home in the LDS Winder West Stake where they faithfully served in various callings for 38 years. Mom had a gift for seeing the good in people. She knew how to give love and service unconditionally. She is survived by her husband, daughters, sons-in-law and her cherished grandchildren: Kailey, Brennen, Preston, Trevor, Ashley, Tanner, Sampson, Sadie, and Zac.Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 30th at noon at the Winder 12th Ward, 4350 South 1100 East, Salt Lake City, UT. A viewing will take place from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the funeral. A viewing will also be held Thursday, November 29th from 6:00 until 8:00pm at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, in Salt Lake City.
