PROVO — Police are trying to find where $5,000 worth of likely stolen car parts came from.

A group of construction workers found the parts stashed among their materials at a home they were working on Wednesday morning, police Sgt. Matthew Siufanua said.

Police were notified by the workers who showed up at the house near 1360 South and 700 West, they found tires, headlights, cam shafts among the usual construction equipment and supplies.

A few hours later two males in their late teens showed up asking for the car parts. The construction workers told them the parts were at the police station, but the teens never showed up at the station to claim the parts.

“We can assume two things: one they are still lost looking for the police department, or the parts are stolen,” Siufanua said.

Investigators determined that the vehicle parts had likely been stolen from Honda Civic and Acura Integra vehicles.

Siufanua said one of the teens had yellow and pink colors in the back of his hair.

Anyone who believes the items belong to them and can prove ownership is encouraged to call 801-852-6298.
