ORLANDO, Fla. — Graeme McDowell had an eagle-par-birdie finish at Bay Hill for a 9-under 63 that gave him a share of the lead with Jason Dufner among the early starters Friday.
Dufner shot a 69, making only one mistake when his 3-wood found the water on the par-5 sixth hole.
McDowell hit his second shot to 8 feet for eagle on the 16th, made a long two-putt par on the 17th, and finished with a 10-foot birdie to catch Dufner.
They were at 9-under 135.
Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson were among those playing in the afternoon. Woods opened with a 69, so he was six shots out of the lead when he teed off. Mickelson opened with a 73.
