ATLANTA — Chipper Jones won't be playing in his final home opener with the Atlanta Braves.
The third baseman was scratched from the lineup shortly before batting practice Friday so he could have fluid drained from his left knee. Jones had arthroscopic surgery on the knee during spring training and missed the first four games of the regular season.
He returned Tuesday night in Houston and homered in his first game back.
But the knee swelled up on the flight back to Atlanta after Wednesday's game. Jones had hoped he would be OK after an off day, but he's still too sore to play against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Martin Prado will move to third base, with Matt Diaz taking over in left field.
