Sheriff: Teen believed to be hit by warning shot

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Authorities say charges have been upgraded for three male youths accused of a cabin break-in at an Alabama fish camp where a teenage volleyball star was critically injured.

The Baldwin County Sheriff's office says Scott Tipton Byrd, Daniel Parnell and Dillon Wade Tyree are being charged as adults with first degree burglary. All are 17 years old.

The three took at boat to Gravine Island in the Mobile-Tensaw Delta along with 17-year-old Summer Moody early Sunday morning. Baldwin County Sheriff Huey "Hoss" Mack says Moody was struck in the back of the head by a warning shot when three nearby campers came to investigate what they thought was a break-in.

Two of the men were armed and each fired a warning shot. They were questioned and released.
