Update on Utah wrestlers at U.S. Olympic trials

IOWA CITY, IOWA -- Matt Brown lost a controversial match in the quarterfinals at the U.S. Wrestling Trails, 2-0 (1-0, 1-0) at the freestyle 163 pounds to Tyler Caldwell of Sunkist Team OTC. Brown was behind 1-0 (1-0) and as time ended in the second period it appeared to be a 0-0 tie. The official awarded Caldwell a take down, however. Brown's coaches challenged the ruling, but officials determined through video that Caldwell had earned the take down before time was out.

Cheney Haight dropped a wild match in his quarterfinal match in the Greco-Roman 185 to Jordan Holm of Minnesota Storm, 2-0 (3-0, 5-0 OT). Trailing 1-0 entering the second period, Haight held Holm off to a scoreless two minutes. In the 30 second overtime, Haight was in the down position. Holm hit a five-point throw ending the match.

All three Utah wrestlers competing today are out of the championship brackets, but can still come back for third place.
