SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Authorities say a pilot and two passengers are dead after the crash of a single-engine Cessna plane in the Utah wilderness.

Searchers found the wreckage in the Dark Canyon Primitive Area of San Juan County.

A sheriff's dispatcher says the Cessna 182 went down Wednesday but wasn't found until Thursday morning.

The Federal Aviation Administration released a tail number that shows the plane was registered to Kyle Richardson of Midland, Texas.

No phone listing could be found for Richardson. Neighbors in Midland told The Associated Press that Richardson is a 28-year-old petroleum engineer.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.
