INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis has taken Stanford tight end Coby Fleener in the second round of the NFL draft.

Fleener is the first tight end chosen this year. The choice means he will be reunited with his college teammate, quarterback Andrew Luck, the overall No. 1 choice Thursday night.

Fleener wasn't expected to still be available when the Colts chose 34th overall after the 6-foot-6, 244 pound senior ran the 40-yard dash in 4.49 seconds on his pro day at Stanford.

But when Fleener wasn't taken on the first day and St. Louis opened the second day by taking receiver Brian Quick, Indy moved quickly to give Luck a familiar asset on offense.

Indy is scheduled to pick once more Friday, No. 64 overall, and make seven picks Saturday.
