The Pentagon is under scrutiny from the Government Accountability office for a study it commissioned on studies. Yes, the Pentagon produced a study that is studying studies, according to ABC News.

In 2010, the Pentagon launched its study of studies after it had received a large amount of studies.

Robert Gates, former Secretary of Defense during the time the study was introduced, complained they were “awash in taskings for reports and studies” and wanted to find out how much they cost to produce, according to ABC.

After two years, the study still persists despite review from the Government Accountability Office, per Congress’ request.

The GAO has declared the study a failure in a recent report, which the Pentagon “partially concurs” with.

The GAO said the Department of Defense’s “approach is not fully consistent with relevant cost estimating best practices and cost accounting standards,” according to ABC.

ABC News was unable to obtain the price of the study of studies from the GAO.
