Julia (Beth) Robinson1921 ~ 2012On May 12th, Julia Elizabeth Wood Robinson of Salt Lake City peacefully passed away at home, age 91. Beth was born in Salt Lake City, Jan. 5, 1921, to Lyman Stephen Wood, and Alice Taylor. She graduated from the U with a bachelor's in English. She also met her husband George Cecil Robinson at the U. She and George were married in the Salt Lake Temple June 6, 1941. George joined the Navy which took them to San Francisco, San Diego, and Long Beach where mom worked in some of the large ship building projects. After the war they moved to Boston where Dad finished his education. During this time they made many friends whom they kept in touch with over the years. Beth is the mother of 4 children, 17 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Mom was a watchful caring parent, who spent countless hours giving music lessons to her children, helping with homework, reading with her children, and taught the importance and responsibility of work and doing any job well. Mom taught us many different lessons growing up. Beth was the peacemaker of her home almost never returned anger with anger. She served in her church for many years. Whenever we smelled some wonderful desert cooking Mom would let us have a little taste and then whisk it away for some church activity. Then she became the ward Relief Society president while living in Omaha Nebraska, and served in that capacity for several years giving many hours of service. Finally she became stake Relief Society president. She greatly enjoyed the company of the other women and loved the work of enriching the lives of the women that she served, and reaching out to those who needed a friend. After George retired he and Beth moved back to Utah to be with family. A few days before Beth's passing, she mentioned to a niece that she really was looking forward to seeing George again, and felt that her time to go was overdue. She will be greatly missed by her children and grandchildren who kept her here a little longer than she expected.A viewing will be held at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 S. 2300 E., on Saturday, May 19th from 12:30pm to 2:40pm.
