The Statue of Liberty, the icon of our nation, was not installed until 10 years after France sent it to us. Why? The country first saved up the funds needed to build the pedestal instead of borrowing the money.

When our country fought World War II our citizens were asked to go without, pay taxes to support the war and buy war bonds. Now we have politicians like Sen. Orrin Hatch who approved more than $1 trillion for war spending and borrowed the full amount. Even worse, his approval for the Medicare Part D Prescription Drug program created a $7 trillion unfunded liability.

Can we stop sending people to Washington who have no problem funding programs without finding a way to pay for them? We don't need Robin Hoods like Hatch who rob from the future to give to the present.
