TOOELE — State Route 73 was closed Thursday afternoon between Tooele and Cedar Fort as firefighters worked to gain control of a 500-acre blaze.

Fire officials said the fire was sparked by an equipment malfunction around 8:30 a.m. Thursday. They said high winds in the area contributed to the growth of the blaze.

No structures were threatened in the fire, but crews worked to keep it from spreading to nearby campgrounds.

More information will be provided as it becomes available.
