Lorraine Dahlen Welti NakkenSeptember 10, 1929 ~May 11, 2012Our beautiful and loving mother, Lorraine Dahlen Welti Nakken passed away on May 11, 2012 at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center from complications associated with pneumonia. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on September 10, 1929 to Lorraine Dahlen and Albert Welti. She married George John Nakken on September 28, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple.Lorraine is survived by her children Gary Nakken (Colleen) of Orem, Utah; Sherie Brown (Steve) of Cedar City, Utah; and Pam Robbins of Provo, Utah. She also has ten precious grandchildren and was known as "Greaty Grandma Rainy" to eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Connie Schnakenburg, Thelma Barlow, Ruth Hills, and Lois Geertsen. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George John Nakken, her parents and sisters, Helen Rock and Grace Haner-Chapman, and her brother, Carl Welti.After graduating from South High School, Lorraine worked for a law firm in Salt Lake City, and later became the business manager for Bryner Clinic in Salt Lake City. In 1971, she moved to Cedar City, Utah where she worked in the accounting department for Hallmark's Cedar Products division.Lorraine was always serving those around her. She served as a Relief Society President in three different wards; she also served in many young women's leadership positions. Lorraine was a kind, patient, and gracious woman people enjoyed being with; she had mastered and radiated the pure love of Christ. She was an accomplished seamstress and often sang publicly with her Sisters and ward choir.Funeral services will be held on Saturday May 19th at 1 p.m. at the Riverside Ward Chapel at 180 E 3500 N in Provo, Utah. A viewing will be held before the services from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The burial will be at the Provo City Cemetery following the funeral services.
