PAYSON — Two young boys were injured Thursday evening after being struck by an SUV while riding a bike.

Payson Police Lt. Bill Wright said the accident occurred just after 8 p.m. at the intersection of 1400 South and 930 West. He said the two brothers, ages 12 and 6, were riding on a single bike downhill on 1400 South and apparently attempted to turn left onto 930 West when they were struck by a full-size SUV.

The driver of the SUV was an adult female, Wright said. The accident is under investigation but speed, drugs and alcohol did not appear to have been a factor.

The 6-year-old boy, who was riding on the back pegs of the bike, was transported by medical helicopter to Primary Children's Hospital.
