Rodney Paul Anderson1930 - 2012Rodney Paul Anderson, 81, passed away on May 16, 2012 at home after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.He was born Sept. 11, 1930, to Andrew L. and Clara Fornell Anderson in Arland, WI. He spent his youth growing up on dairy farms in the Turtle Lake, WI, area with his 3 brothers and 2 sisters.While stationed at Long Beach, CA, as a Marine he met and fell in love with Elva Hancock. They married Oct. 2, 1952 and were blessed with 6 beautiful daughters. They settled and raised their family in Salt Lake City, UT, in the Rose Park area. Rodney was an auto mechanic for Ken Garff Company for many years. He also worked as a mechanic for the Salt Lake City Water Dept. If something was broke, he could fix it. He loved sports, camping, fishing and hunting.Rodney joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Dec. 14, 1955. Later he and Elva were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. After retiring they served together on a mission in Greenville, MI. Rod loved the Lord and followed his example. Dad was kind, generous, gentle and a great peacemaker. He loved all his girls.Rod was preceded in death by his dear wife, parents and 3 granddaughters. He is survived by his daughters, Marie Ruesch (Craig), Sharon Szymanski (Paul), Vicky Pierce (Darrel), Judy Johnson (Byron), Lorraine Richards (Kriss) and Sandra Riet (Dave), 23 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.Funeral Services will be held Sat. May 19, at 12:00 noon at the North Rose Park Stake Center, north chapel, 1200 West 1200 North. A viewing will be held prior to the service in the social hall 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. Interment will be at the Redwood Memorial Cemetery.Special thanks to his wonderful caregivers, Jenny, Ryan, Jammie, Tom, Superior Home Care and the countless family and friends who served him.
