MUNICH — Bayern Munich dominated the first half of its home Champions League final but was held scoreless by Chelsea at Allianz Arena on Saturday.

Bayern winger Arjen Robben's shot struck a post in the 21 minute, after he wriggled through the Chelsea defense to create a left-footed chance.

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech got his right leg down on the turf and deflected the ball high up against his right post and away to safety.

Bayern settled quickly against a Chelsea set up to absorb pressure, but seldom called Cech into action.

Thomas Mueller had a clear shooting chance in the 36th but volleyed wide from Diego Contento's left-flank cross.

Mario Gomez then wasted two good chances in a three-minute spell.

First, he failed to control the ball at the far post when Franck Ribery's misdirected shot flew to his feet, then the big forward wrong-footed defender Gary Cahill but shot high and wide left-footed.

Bayern's tempo was often dictated by Bastian Schweinsteiger, who excelled after collecting a needless yellow card in the second minute for handball.
