Tuesday evening the Utah Symphony presented an exceptional concert in Abravanel Hall under the baton of guest conductor Vladimir Kulenovic. Aubree Oliverson, age 13, was the soloist for Tchaikovsky's Violin "Concerto in D Major."
At the end of the first movement, the audience spontaneously rose to its feet to applaud and cheer this talented young girl. When the concerto ended, a thunderous roar filled the hall. Her performance was unbelievable. She was demure and humble through it all.
The second half of the program featured 59 young musicians from 11 youth orchestras from all over the valley. They sat side-by-side with the Utah Symphony musicians as they played three more classical pieces. The hall was full of families enjoying the beautiful music. It was an evening to remember.
The Utah Symphony is a jewel in our community. Encouraging young people to play musical instruments and supporting the symphony, and all our arts, benefits everyone. It raises our culture to a higher level.
