Mildred (Midge) F. Smedley1929 ~ 2012WEST POINT, UTMildred (Midge) F, Smedley born to Levi and Elma Freeman on September 1, 1929 in Herriman, Utah returned to our Heavenly Father on May 15, 2012 surrounded by her children after a brief battle with cancer. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend to all who came to love her. She was born and raised by her parents in Herriman and then later in Bountiful, Utah. Midge as she was known to everyone provided the spark and encouragement in everyone's life. She always made time for family by attending almost every sporting event or school function because she loved the interaction of family the most. She loved to play card games with her husband, brothers and sisters and sometimes instigated quite a few heckling sessions. She also enjoyed watching and supporting the Utah Jazz as often as she could. She truly loved her family the most. She worked at numerous elementary schools until she retired from the Davis County School District school lunch program. She also provided care as a school bus attendant for handicapped children and thoroughly enjoyed the children. She is a graduate from Davis High School in 1947 and there she became a true cheerleader earning her letter "D". She was a devoted member of the LDS West Point 14th Ward and the Syracuse Lady Lions Club and truly loved to help everyone. She married George N Fisher a high school sweetheart and lived entirely in West Point and then later divorced. She then married another high school sweetheart in 1976 to George H Smedley and was later sealed in the Ogden LDS Temple one year later. Midge is survived by her two sisters, Aileen Reschner, Darlene and (Richard) Baer, one Brother Blaine and (Chloe) Freeman, sister-in-law Virginia Freeman and brother-in-law Dave Lewis. She is also survived by her children Sherry and (Kent) Fullmer, Carol Brewer, Steven Fisher, Carey and (Margo) Fisher, Kevin Fisher, stepchildren Charlene Pewtress, George and (Cathy) Smedley, Jim and (Dodie) Smedley, Sheila and (Kevin) Bowler, Clair and (Kristy) Smedley, Cynthia and (Ray) Canonico. Preceding her in death were her loving husband of 24 years George Smedley, her loving parents, two sisters, June Miller and Elaine Lewis, two brothers Richard and Dean Freeman, brother-in-law Eddie Reschner, Stepson Ryan Smedley and granddaughter Melanie Fisher. Midge loved her 32 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. The family expresses a heartfelt thank you to the Lindquist Mortuary of Layton, Inspiration Hospice of Bountiful especially Alice, Jodie, Heather and Ollie. A special thank you to long time family friends, Paula and Shanna Kite. Mom will forever be in our hearts and in our dreams.Funeral services will be held Monday, May 21, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the West Point LDS 14th Ward Chapel, 2852 West 300 North. Friends may visit family Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
